At the end of my 4 day hike on the Six Foot Track I arrived at the Jenolan Caves. I went to the ticket office for information and bought tickets to visit 2 caves the next day. It was a warm welcome, they gave permission to camp close to the caves and there were shower and toilet facilities nearby…sweet.
Pricey and 50%
I found that they have a weird pricing structure at the Jenolan caves. First thing you find out is that it’s not cheap but even compared to Australian standards it’s expensive. 36$/29 € for a normal 1.5 hour tour and 40$/32 € for a 2 hour tour. Thank god they have a nice offer to ease the pain : If you by a tour you get your second one 50% off. I don’t know how they do it but they make you feel like you’re saving money while you’re spending even more.
So that’s what I did, spend 58$ on 2 tours : The Orient Cave and the River Cave. It’s not cheap but being a hitchhiker and living in a tent I can spend a bit more of my money on activities. The have 10 caves for tours and another 4 for more adventurous stuff. So if you really wanna do them all expect to pay big bucks :)
Worth it ?
It’s a tough one but I have to say yes. The 2 caves that I did were pretty cool to walk through and you get a guide that tells you all you want to know about the caves. From the 2 caves that I visited I would recommend the Orient Cave if you can do only one…but why would you wanna do that with the 50% discount…right :)
